The last time Washington used fear was when they burned into our minds the fear of terrorism. Day after day, week after week, they stoked this fear by giving us unending emergency alerts from the Office of Homeland Security. The media held us with stories of which terrorist were found and killed. And we believed them. What else could we do but trust them? They were our government.
Then they moved the battlefield from the Middle East to Wall Street. They just changed the participants in this arena. But the use of fear remained the same. The tried hard to scare us into believing that if we didn't bail out the banks, then tomorrow, the bottom would fall out from our economy. No more homes could be purchased. Your employers would not be able to pay you. You would not be able to buy a new car. Your homes would be worth half its current value. Students would have to drop out of college because the money would just evaporate into thin air. The media held us with stories of how companies would collapse and how your life savings would be worth nothing. They tried dearly to scare us.
On September 29, after the House of Representatives voted NO the first time, the market fell. The DOW dropped 778 Points. They told us that this was proof of the coming problems resulting from NO bailout. Then, four days later, they voted YES. The DOW dropped again. As of October 24th the DOW dropped 2,764 points since the Washington Bailout game began … a 25 percent drop. We were cursed with NO bailout … but we were cursed more WITH the bailout.
Charles Boustany was more than happy to join the game with Bush, Pilosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, and Obama. The evidence that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats is now as clear as ever. Boustany voted YES on a bailout that was clearly worse than the one he voted NO on. Don Cravins said he wouldn't have voted on the bailout as it was written, but never explained what kind of bailout he would have voted on. As a typical politician, he had to leave a crack in the door.
We started with an over $10 Trillion Dollar debt. Then we added over $1.8 Trillion Dollars in 2008 for Bailouts. The total cost of our war in Iraq and Afghanistan may total over $2.4 Trillion Dollars. Do the math. If you comprehend the numbers.
We were told to fear terrorism. We were told to fear bank failures. I fear we should fear Washington. But, there is hope yet. It’s NOT too late. You can still say “Enough!” on November 4th. We can undo the damage still. Just who do you trust with your money? You know who you can trust, and that is the ONLY candidate who has unequivocally condemned the bailout, the ONLY candidate who has without wavering condemned the wasted Trillions in the middle East.
Peter Vidrine will NOT represent the Washington power brokers. He will NOT represent the Wall Street robber barons. He will NOT represent Bush or Obama. He will NOT represent Nancy Pilosi or Chris Dodd or Barney Frank. Peter Vidrine will represent YOU and ONLY YOU. You are the ones that will send him to Washington, and he will always remember you.
On November 4th, shake the fear off before you go into the voting booth and make the decision to vote your heart and your future. There is hope yet, vote Peter Vidrine #39, vote for yourself this time.
