Over the last few months, I've been hearing all kinds of praises and high acclamations about Junior (otherwise known as Donald Cravins, Jr.) The problem is, however, all the praises are coming from him. He is certainly adamant about being "Conservative", "Pro-life", and of course, for the hunters, "Pro-Gun".
I'm mostly amused by his claims to be "Pro-Gun." What in the heck does that mean? Our prisons are filled with criminals who are certainly "Pro-Gun." To quote Junior, ''Some people play golf. I strap on a vest and gun for fun.'' Precious. He's Pro-Gun because he likes to play with guns for fun? I have yet to hear or read anything about his understanding or positions on the 2nd amendment. Does his "Pro-Gun" stance have anything to do with a belief that we have God-given rights to protect ourselves from thugs and tyranny? Does he have any concept of what Rights are?
Conservative? Well, just about every politician in Louisiana claims to be "Conservative." I won't even try to figure that one out.
As far as "Pro-Life", I only have to look at whom he wishes to be President. While Junior has curiously excluded the mention of Barack Obama from his entire web site,(perhaps necessary to continue pretending to be "conservative) he has made it clear on his MySpace page that he ranks Barack Obama with Jesus Christ as a person he'd like to meet. Now, I wouldn't be quick to sing praises about Boustany on the issue of abortion (or other core moral issues), however, since he actually endorsed Rudy Giuliani. Yes, even Charlie wanted our next President to be Pro Abortion, Pro Gay Rights, and Pro Gun control. You don't have to look long before you realize that Boustany and Junior suffer the same ethics (or lack, thereof) of Politics Before Principle.
Often, you must dig well below the surface to get the larger picture of a candidates character. Just looking at his voting record alone can sometimes give you a clouded view. Sometimes you must look at the people they admire or look up to, like Junior ranking Barack Obama with Jesus Christ. Real nice. |

Once the clouds of deception are lifted and everything is exposed, we quickly find that, what politicians claim to be and what they actually are, is usually two different things. Voting records and claims alone are insufficient to determine who and what they really are.
This election, we must all dig deeper into the records of candidates. Before believing everything coming out of their mouths, we need to look at their records, their associations, and of course, who they look up to ... who they endorse.
